Chicago Startup Bus Stops at Kauffman En Route to SXSW
Kauffman Labs education entrepreneurs and local startup community network with Austin-bound ‘Buspreneurs’
One day into their trek from Chicago to Austin, Tex., a couple dozen innovative entrepreneurs on a bus stopped by the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Mo., to talk startups with other founders and the Foundation’s entrepreneurship experts. The destination: the interactive conference South by Southwest (SXSW ); the goal: to build and launch a startup during the two-day road trip to pitch to a group of investors at the conference.
The Kauffman stop was an opportunity for the “buspreneurs” to recharge and network and brainstorm with the like-minded–the Kauffman Labs Education Ventures founders attending an intensive four-month startup program offered through Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation as well as local founders and members of the Kansas City startup community.

The inaugural 2010 Startup Bus consisted of one bus carrying twenty-five technology entrepreneurs from San Francisco to Austin who conceived of companies with names like DormDorms and DateBrowsr. This year, organizers have expanded to six buses departing from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Cleveland, Miami, and Chicago and expect up to 160 entrepreneurs to take the ride.
